4 months

K-bug turned 4 months on the 18th and I have to say that time is flying by way too fast! She cannot be that old already! Currently, she is sleeping on her daddy's chest allowing me a few minutes to write. She looks so precious with her squished lips and her cuddly nature that I almost forgot what a pill she has been these last few days. See for yourself :)

We need to find a pediatrician so we can get her immunizations and current stats. In the meantime, here are a few things about our K-bug.

-She loves to grab and hold on to things, especially her toys, my hair, and our phones
-She is camera shy. She will jibber-jabber non-stop until you put a camera in her face. We have to be very discreet when we want pictures :)
-She wants to be independent...but with someone watching her. The moment you leave, the whining begins. Talk about spoiled rotten already.
-She used to like tummy time but now she hates it
-She sleeps through the night (has been for quite some time now)
-She is very possessive of her daddy. He isn't allowed to hold any other babies.
-She is getting the hang of Skype... as much as a 4 month old can
-She is losing her hair :( but new hair is growing in right behind it! Yay!
-She doesn't like to be cooped up in the house all day. She loves to be outside :)
-She has found her feet and will not stop playing with them
-She wears 3 month clothing
-She hates wearing headbands

As for the rest of us, I just accepted a job in Pueblo at a housing complex. I know our intention was to move to Colorado Springs but it just isn't working out right now. I start next week. School is going well for the hubs. He switched his major and will now finish in 2 years instead of 5! Plus he gets to be home with K more so we don't have to find a daycare.

August 31

I cannot believe August is over.

We have been through so much this summer and I am definitely ready to be settled! Let's hope that happens within the next month. Here is an update on Kaia and the move :)

KAIA LUZ IS BORN JUNE 18

In June we were blessed with the most beautiful baby girl. All of the hell (excuse me) that we went through to get her here was worth it! I didn't realize how bad it was at the time and I am sure it could have been worse. When I look back at what I went through in comparison to others, I realize how much it, well, sucked.

I was 41 weeks on Monday, June 17. I went to my doctor appointment that morning and was told that I had not progressed. Not. At. All. I had been 1 centimeter for only a week prior with no effacement. I was so tired of being pregnant and my impatience got the better of me. I couldn't wait one more week. He said that he would try to get me in that night and we could begin the process of getting baby here.

That evening I went in. They started me on Cytocin (?) every 4 hours. Not exactly a fun experience. I wasn't allowed to get out of bed because there was a risk of the pill falling out. So I just laid there, unable to sleep with an uncomfortable catheter. Kyle didn't sleep either, but I was glad to have him there.

The next morning I had dilated to a 3 (whoopee) and had effaced enough to have my water broken. They hoped it would get things going more quickly and so did I! It worked, but not consistently. I was on and off Pitocin all day. Thank heavens for modern medicine! The epidural was the best gift I received that day! The second best gift was when my mom showed up :)

I wasn't sure what time it was but I do know that the NBA finals were beginning and it was time to push. I pushed up until over-time. They said it was 2 hours. I knew it had been a long time. I was extremely worn out and had nothing left to give. When the doctor came in after a c-section (There were 3 earlier that evening. Apparently everyone decided to have a baby that day.) he had me push a few more times. He decided that baby was not going to move past my bones. Her head was just rubbing back and forth on my bone.My gigantic hips lead me into believing that having a baby was no biggie. Silly me. Dr. T said that we could continue trying to push but it didn't look like she was going anywhere. The best option would be to have a c-section. Not exactly what I was hoping for! So before overtime started, we were wheeled into the operating room.

It didn't take long for them to get her out. I was so relieved that she was here! I watched them take her to the side and Kyle went with her. Then more pain from pressure began as they put me back together. The anesthetist gave me more meds and I was out for the count.

The next thing I knew I was waking up in a recovery room surrounded by family and a nurse. My dad was holding my baby girl. I was so loopy and it was hard to concentrate on what people were saying. Kyle, at least I think it was Kyle, asked me if I wanted to hold my baby girl. I wanted to so bad but was afraid I would drop her because I felt so weak. He handed her to me and the moment she was in my arms my heart could not contain my love for her.

We were in the hospital for one week due to my recovery and her jaundice. When we left, I was so relieved to be outside and just a little scared of being on our own.

The next 2 months just flew by! I spent all my time with baby girl. I cannot believe how much she has grown and developed. She amazes me everyday!

MOVING

In early summer, we decided we would move to Colorado so that Kyle could go to school. I procrastinated packing/cleaning the house for weeks. Kyle did a lot of work on the basement so when I finally buckled down and started packing things up, the basement was nearly finished. We spent 2-3 weeks cleaning and packing up the 4-level house and garage, although most of it was done in the last week. Without jobs and a place to live, we headed to Colorado!

Okay, so not necessarily without a place to live. Our plan is to live with Kyle's grandparents in Pueblo until we are secure with jobs. He started school on Monday at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He also started working at the Broadmoor golf course today, but it is only a temporary position. I just accepted a teaching job at VillaSport and begin next week. I am also waiting on another job offer. Until I hear back from them we will stay in Pueblo.

Father's Day 2013 and still no baby

I just wanted to take a moment and express how grateful I am to have my dad. He is an incredible man whom I look up to! He has taught me important life lessons including how to change my own oil, the importance of work ethic and responsibility, and maybe a "little" road rage (though he probably isn't proud of that one). He is someone I know others look up to as well. When I tell someone that I am Dean's daughter, they always say, "Oh! I know Dean! He's a great guy. He helped me with so and so." He has always been willing to help me with my projects and ideas. I am so proud of him and the decision he made to make his life easier this year. I cannot believe how lucky I am to have such a great relationship with him. He is going to be the best grandpa!

And my amazing father-in-law! He is a great example to his family and a loving father. He definitely raised an incredible son!

And the future daddy-to-be. We can't wait!

Speaking of baby...

We thought we were going to have a baby here for Father's Day. Turns out we were wrong! Baby G decided she didn't want to be here yet. We are trying so hard to be patient, but it is tough. Kyle worked 12 hour days all last week and was disappointed that he never received a phone call. My mom took a week off of work because she was planning on helping me with Baby G. She got to clean my bathrooms instead! Not that I am super grateful for that, but I was hoping she would really be able to help me out with a baby.

People are constantly telling me Baby G is stubborn like her mama. I didn't think I was that stubborn, but apparently everyone else does! Talk about a wake-up call. I see what others really think of me now ;)

Anyway, we were hoping she would surprise us and give Kyle the best gift a father could receive. Clearly, that didn't happen. Now I'm just sitting here impatiently waiting. Hopefully my doctor will call me with some good news for an induction today! We had previously talked about it all happening tomorrow, possibly tonight (though I highly doubt that). Let's just all pray that she decides to make her appearance by the end of Tuesday!
